About Menyet
The Making of Menyet
In the early 80's, I was born in the city of Englewood, New Jersey.
Throughout my life, I had always had an affinity for ancient Kemet. I can remember getting gifts from a friend of my parents after vacationing in, what is now, Egypt, spending weekends playing ms-dos games set in Kemet, even spending summers at the library reading about the ancient legacy. In 2006, while attending college, I had come in contact with a few classmates who were studying the Kemetic sciences. This was the first time in my life that I had experienced people who's aim was to revive the ways of ancient Kemet. A year later, after losing touch with my classmates, I started listening to Dr. Ray Hagins. Shortly thereafter I branched into listening to Dr Phil Valentine and read Stolen Legacy by Georgr G.M. James as well as various other scholars. That same year I stumbled across a myspace page for a local Kemetic Shrine named the Temple of Anu in Newark New Jersey. A year later I started the initiation process. In 2012, I was granted with the Kemetic name "Menyet Ankh En Ma'at Menta", by my teacher Naswt Biti Ra Sankhu Kheper. The meaning of it is "Menyet Ankh En Ma'at" She who finds pleasure in living in balance and harmony. My familial name "Menta" means to establish on earth.
Purpose
This website and blog started as an idea to document and present the life of a Kemetic practitioner in the 21st century. The topics that I wish to address include spiritual beliefs, rituals, practices but also cover the everyday application of the Kemetic spiritual system for practitioners in the 21st century.
Support My Work
Ma'at has numerous synonyms, one of them being "reciprocity". I started this blog and website as a passion project that I wanted to share with the world. As with any type of project, it has grown and taken countless hours of research, organization, writing; creating. If you would like to support my work or show appreciation/reciprocity, I accept your generosity in the following forms:
