The Holiday

Kwanzaa is an annual celebration of that is held from December 26 to January 1 throughout the Pan-African Diaspora. Kwanzaa celebrates what its founder called the seven principles of Kwanzaa, or Nguzo Saba. These seven principles comprise Kawaida: Umoja (Unity), Kujichagulia (Self-Determination), Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility), Ujamaa (Cooperative economics), Nia (Purpose), Kuumba (Creativity), Imani (Faith). The holiday culminates in a communal feast called Karamu, usually held on the 6th day.
