The ancient Kemetyu used powerful and advanced spells through the power of hekas (words of power) for daily ritual work. Within the various distinctions of priests, there were many who ‘prescribed’ talismans, charms, and potions for everyday practitioners. These items were believed to have had certain magical (protection, manifestation, cleansing) properties. Where these items were used there was often a spell to be said because the NTRU were heavily relied on for a source of protection and psychological comfort. 
 
Modern Kemetyu aim to also use talismans, charms, and potions to facilitate protection, manifestation, cleansing as in the tradition of the ancient Kemetyu. Though not originally from ancient Kemet, many modern practitioners utilize Florida Water as it is a powerful yet versatile purifying tool. It is considered to be protective, and cleansing, helping to rid bad spirits and inviting to new, as well as promoting luck, and easing psychic distress.
