The rue plant is part of the Rutaceae plant family and an old-fashioned herb garden plant native to Southern Europe. Rue plant oils are extracted from the leaves. This popular soap has a rich lather and a strong, aromatic scent, which can be soothing and comforting. Rue (Ruta graveolens). Folk names include herb of grace, mother of the herbs, Ruta, Witch bane, and garden rue.

 

In magick, rue is often used for hex breaking and for warding off the evil eye.
